Residential Life/Student Affairs Marketing Intern
Description: Working with and overseen by the Coordinator of Residential Life Operations, the marketing team will assist in the development of and implementation of marketing and communication plans with the offices of Residential Life and Student Affairs. The team will collaborate through bringing their specific strengths and areas of interest to projects and tasks assigned by the different offices.
Specifically, the marketing team will manage social media, myNorthwest, websites, Residence Life Cinema, the creation of residence hall and Student Union public information television ads, some email, and various other publicity efforts for major events and processes put forth by the various departments within Student Affairs. A key goal for fall 2015 is the addition of video productions in support of student recruitment and retention. Evaluation and assessment of each project and overall marketing/communication efforts of these offices will be essential to making appropriate adjustments.
This internship should be seen as an opportunity for practical experience in applying skills learned in coursework and learning new skills within a team environment. Experiences will include both tangible marketing products, as well as, contributing to the development and evolution of each department’s overall marketing and communication strategy.
Selected interns will be asked to sign a statement of confidentiality. Work will be scheduled with a mix of regular office and as-needed hours, averaging 10-15 hours per week. This is an unpaid position and may be for academic credit, but is not required.

Qualifications: Marketing team interns will be selected in an effort to build a team that collectively possesses the following skills. No one intern will be expected to possess all of the following skills unless specified.
• Must have PC and Microsoft Office skills (required for all).
• Must have solid written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate to a diverse online community (required for all).
• A basic understanding of roles and functions Residential Life and Student Affairs provide to students.
• Ability to convey a message and communicate in short-form writing.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Video and photography skills.
• Basic web page creation/development skills (knowledge of html coding not needed).
• Ability to design graphical content for marketing materials.
• Basic understanding of marketing, communication, and/or advertising skills.
• Ability to learn new software tools quickly.
The marketing team will be comprised of four interns. Ideally, the team will be comprised of one member with desktop publishing skills, one with social media skills, one with website skills, and a fourth member with video and photography skills.

Northwest University Relations is now taking applications for Summer and Fall 2013 Graphic Design Interns. University Relations strives to give students a realistic work environment of a day-to-day operation in a professional graphic design setting. Interns in the University Relations Office will be assigned projects including, but not limited to, postcards, posters, brochures, t-shirts, web design or other projects as assigned by the University’s graphic designers.
Knowledge of Macintosh system and software; InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator is required. This experience is unpaid and must be for academic credit. They prefer candidates that have taken this coursework:

Social Media internship with Career Services for Spring 2013
Career Services is seeking a social media intern for the Spring term. This is a great way to add value to a student’s resume without even leaving campus. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 18.
•Develop and assist in implementing a social media and marketing strategy for both internal and external outreach.
•Create and maintain a social media content editorial calendar
•Communicate exciting social media news; update social media outlets
•Track social media statistics
•Take photos and video of events and services for social media and web pages.

Marketing Internship Opportunity- NWMSU Wellness Services
The Marketing Intern will work closely with Wellness Services staff to assist with health and wellness projects, initiatives, and events. The Marketing Intern will also serve a primary role in updating, maintaining, and/or implementing various Wellness Services communication strategies. Various duties will be assigned on an as-needed basis, with tasks and deadlines to be established by the group.
Duration: 1 academic semester. Hours: Three hours per week, on average (equivalent to a three credit course). Schedule can be flexible as needed (i.e. six work hours one week, no work hours the next)
The Marketing Intern will work in an office setting (University Wellness Center), with outreach to other Northwest Missouri State University organizations and programs as needed. Dress attire will be business casual, as deemed appropriate by the Intern’s direct supervisor. The Intern will be expected to follow the same policies and guidelines that govern all employees at Wellness Services, including signing a confidentiality statement.
A select group of applicants will be chosen for an interview, and from the interviews a single applicant will be selected for the position.

NWMSU Graphic Design Internship
Like to design? Good at web design? Then you should apply for this campus internship. The University Relations office has added a paid student position for a web graphic designer, 10-15 hours a week. They want applicants that can help create artwork for web features and promos on their Northwest site and the athletics site as well as other design projects for the web. There would also be a need to help replace and maintain current photos on the sites.
They would like applicants with advanced design experience, have an eye for layout and composition and have strong typography skills. The applicant will use Adobe Design Suite 4/5 programs. On-the-job training will be provided as needed for web projects. Check this link for details.
