Communications Internship Opportunity
The Allied Arts Council seeks an intern to assist with Allied Arts Council communications and producing a successful Trails West!® Festival.
Trails West!® is an outdoor arts festival, produced by the Allied Arts Council, celebrating the unique cultural heritage of St. Joseph, MO. The festival is now in its 23rd year, and features fine arts, folk arts, culinary arts, music, dance and theatre. The 2015 festival is August 21-23 at Civic Center park with the theme “heART for the City.”
Internship Duties:
· Work closely with Marketing Coordinator and Trails West!® marketing committee
· Assist with Trails West!® campaign
· Event planning and coordination planning
Requirements:
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
· Press release, and feature article writing skills
· Ability to work on varying projects simultaneously
· Ability to work on deadlines, with originality
· Good interpersonal skills
· Familiar with Windows based computer-operating environment
· Other office duties as assigned
· Access to vehicle
The Allied Arts Council seeks an energetic intern who can work a flexible schedule (approximately 14 hours a week, more hours closer to festival), who enjoys the non-profit industry, and is able to work the summer semester (June 2 – August 24). We are willing to work with any level college student, as long as they have quality communication skills. Majors which would best fit this internship include: Communications, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, but open to others who may have Communications experience. The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience.

The Allied Arts Council, the second oldest arts council in Missouri, was organized in 1963 to provide services to St. Joseph area arts organizations, artists, and the general public. The Council has since grown into a federation of sixteen arts agencies and now produces community arts programs, raises funds, promotes public awareness, and provides services and support to its member agencies.
